The Autumn five day tour to the South of England will take place from October 10th to October 14th inclusive.

The tour will include Winchester Great Hall, Salisbury Cathedral, The Pallant Gallery, Isle of Wight and Osbourne House, Tudor Rose Museum and Plymouth Dockyard

This will include a Vienna City tour, Karlskirche, St Stephens Cathedral, the Schonbrunn Palace, a full days trip down the Danube      valley, Melk Abbey, Krems, the Imperial apartments at the Hofburgh Palace, the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Upper Belvedere    Palace.  We shall also see the world’s largest collection of Gustav Klimt’s work.

We shall travel by coach to Harwich on June 3rd to board the overnight Stena Ferry to Holland, where we shall stay in a centrally located 4* hotel in The Hague for three nights before travelling back, again overnight, to Harwich and home.

The tour will include  visits to the Panorama  Mesdag, the Van Gogh Museum, the Royal Palace of Het Loo as well as guided tours to The Rijksmuseum, the Kroller-Muller Museum, the Frans Hal Museum and Leiden.

The price includes accommodation on the ferries from and back to Harwich, but not meals on board.  One dinner is included in the cost.  All  excursions, entrance fees and guided tours  are included in the tour cost.  Executive coach travel will be used throughout the visit, with the services of a tour manager.

We will be staying 2 nights at the 4* Cavendish Hotel on the seafront in Eastbourne on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. All rooms have hairdryer, safe and tea/coffee facilities. There is a sauna and gym but no pool. Travel will be with Belle Coaches. En route we will be visiting Down House in Kent (the home of Charles Darwin) and a light lunch is included. There will be a full day entitled “British Art at Home”, based on Charleston and Farley Farm House and lunch is included on this day. Members may recall this is the family home of Antony Penrose who lectured on Lee Miller & Picasso in 2011. Charleston was the country retreat of the Bloomsbury group and both houses will conjure up a magnificent picture of almost a century of British Modernism and Surrealism. Returning to Aldeburgh, we will visit Titsey Place, one of the largest surviving historic estates in Surrey surrounded by stunning gardens. A light lunch this day is also included in the cost. We will be travelling by coach to Gatwick and then an Easyjet flight to Berlin. On our arrival, Thomas Abbott will meet and escort us on our coach to Dresden (approx. 2½ hours away) where we will be staying for four nights at the 4* Am Terrassenufer Hotel, an easy ten minute walk from the old town. Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant and bar; all rooms are en suite and have television, telephone and hairdryer. A welcome dinner on the first night is included, and the three remaining nights are on a bed & breakfast basis. Whilst in Germany we will be travelling by executive coach with Thomas. He will accompany us throughout and all excursions, guided tours, entrance fees and gratuities are included. Our final day takes us to the Royal Palace, hopefully visiting the Old Green Vault and then to view the New Green Vault before returning to Berlin airport for our journey home. Our visit will start with a guided tour of Antwerp in the morning and a visit to Rubens' House in the afternoon. The following day we will be visiting the First World War sites with a battlefield guide, seeing the Zonnebeke Museum with a reconstruction of some World War I dugouts and continuing to Tyne Cot Cemetery. We will then visit Messines Ridge and Croonaert Wood Trenches, and continue to Ypres for some leisure time and dinner before attending the 'Last Post' Ceremony under the Menin Gate, returning late to Antwerp. The next day we will visit Ghent to see St Bavos Cathedral with the famous 24 altarpiece “The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb”. In the afternoon we will be taken on a guided tour of the Ghent Museum of Fine Arts. On the final day on our way home we will visit the renowned Palais des Beaux Arts at Lille with a guide.
